In response to mounting concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic by public health officials, the season was suspended by the league officials following the games of March 11 after it was reported that then Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for COVID-19. This came after the Warriors announced that their game against the Brooklyn Nets the next day would be played behind closed doors. On June 4, 2020, it was announced by the NBA Board of Governors approved a plan that would restart the season with 22 teams returning to play in the NBA Bubble on July 31, 2020, which was approved by the National Basketball Players Association the next day. The Warriors, with the league's worst record at the time of the season's suspension, were not among them, effectively ending the team's season. The Warriors will once again play eighteen regular season games, with nine road games and nine home games being played at Rogers Arena. Injury Report: Klay Thompson out for second leg of road back-to-back on Wednesday vs. Nets
From the end of December to the middle of January, the team suffered a 10-game losing streak, the first time they have lost 10 games in a row since 2002. They also suffered their first losing season since 2012 following their 42nd loss to the Miami Heat. With their March 10 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and missed the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014, ending five consecutive Finals appearances. In total, Vancouver will play six home games on Friday nights, two on Saturday and one Sunday matinee. All Friday and Saturday home games will begin at 7 PM, with the December 29thgame versus San Diego being a 1 PM start. The Warriors will play on Leap Day for just the sixth time ever when they travel to Phoenix on February 29… The Warriors are 2-3 all-time on Leap Day, including a win at Atlanta in 2012… Golden State also played Leap Day games in 1996, 1980, 1976 and 1964, all on the road.
California will be hit with 2 weather systems this holiday weekend.... It’s not the first time the Warriors will play the Lakers at home, but the Feb. 8 game — a week before the All-Star Break — has “load management” written all over it. The Warriors will bill it as the debut of Chase Center, but seeing as they’ll host preseason games at the new arena ahead of this TNT game, so take that for what it’s worth.

And while the games aren’t all that interesting — New Orleans, Minnesota, Phoenix, and Dallas are on the docket — the Holiday Homestand is all the more reason to tell your in-laws that you just can’t leave town this year. In their final 27 games (post-All Star) the Warriors will have 12 nationally televised games and matchups with arguably the five strongest title contenders — the Clippers, Lakers, Rockets, 76ers, and Bucks. This season saw the departures of Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala, and thus the break up of the Hamptons Five. After considering signing with teams such as the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers, Durant left in a sign-and-trade with the Brooklyn Nets, with the Golden State Warriors acquiring All-Star guard D'Angelo Russell as part of the deal. Iguodala was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies after six seasons with the Warriors, in which he won three championships and a Finals MVP. Russell would then be traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for former #1 pick Andrew Wiggins at the trade deadline in February 2020. Warriors fans won’t wait long to see Kawhi Leonard, Paul George and the reshaped Los Angeles Clippers — but they’ll wait quite a while to see LeBron James, Anthony Davis and the new-look Los Angeles Lakers in the regular season.
Vancouver will kick off their second season downtown against the defending NLL Cup Champions, the Calgary Roughnecks, on Friday, November 29th. The Warriors will also host division rivals San Diego and Colorado before wrapping up the season against the Saskatchewan Rush on Friday April 24th. The Warriors’ longest homestand is a five-game stretch from December 20-28, while the team will have three separate five-game road trips from November 29 to December 6, January 28 to February 5 and March 14-21. The Warriors officially will open their new arena Oct. 24 against the Clippers, the NBA announced in its regular-season release Monday. After that, the Warriors will embark on a seven-game road trip which will see them head to the U.S. Division while the Scotties Tournament of Hearts takes over Mosaic Place. The Warriors will play 25 of their 34 home dates on Friday and Saturdays this season. The Clippers draw opening night honors because they’re the new NBA championship favorites – a title previously well worn by the Warriors. The teams won’t meet again after the opener until Jan. 10, with other matchups set for March 10 and April 11. The Lakers will be powered by the dynamic duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, with former Warriors DeMarcus Cousins and JaVale McGee serving as other frontcourt threats. Golden State has thrived because of its Splash Brothers duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Something to keep an eye on, especially if you’re a connoisseur of video montages. The second match-up against the Rockets of the season, but we’ll allow some time for Houston to figure out that the early-season issues with Russell Westbrook and James Harden are, in fact, full-season issues. The marquee matchup, of course, is the Christmas Day game at Chase Center against the Rockets. Tipoff is a perfect time — presents will be open, but dinner won’t be interrupted. And looking at the Warriors’ schedule, that might be necessary.
In addition, the TNT slate features home games against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday, January 16; the Rockets on Thursday, February 20; the Lakers on Thursday, February 27; the Toronto Raptors on Thursday, March 5; the Clippers on Tuesday, March 10; and the Nuggets on Tuesday, March 31. Golden State will be featured in additional road games on TNT on Tuesday, January 28 at the 76ers; Thursday, January 30 at the Boston Celtics; Thursday, April 2 at the Rockets and Thursday, April 9 at the Lakers. A week after that finishes, they’ll host Toronto, Philadelphia, the Clippers, and Brooklyn at Chase Center before heading to Milwaukee to start a five-game, one-week road trip out east. With their 33rd loss against the Dallas Mavericks on January 14, 2020, the Warriors failed to reach 50 wins for the first time since 2013.
With Thompson expected to miss most of the season recovering from an ACL injury, the Warriors’ backcourt identify is unclear. Stephen Curry was injured on October 30, 2019, which required surgery to repair his broken second metacarpal. Curry played in just five of the Warriors' 65 games.
